Jean-Pierre Jarier: A motorsport legend.

Nicknamed “Godasse de Plomb” for his generous style, Jean-Pierre Jarier is a French racing driver.

In 1973, he won eight victories and became European Formula 2 champion. He moved up to Formula 1 with March and attracted the attention of Enzo Ferrari, who wanted to hire him in his F1 team for 1974. Nevertheless, the formidable Max Mosley, then boss of March, refused to release Jarier from his contract. Fortunately, Jarier also races in Endurance and wins great victories with major teams like Matra Simca, Alfa Romeo and Renault. In F1, Jarier distinguished himself with the Shadow team, but he admits that his best memory remains his time with Lotus at the end of the 1978 season. Jarier, who then drove for the Tyrrell, Ligier and Osella teams before leaving F1 in 1983, says he does not recognize himself in modern F1.

Jean-Pierre Jarier competed in 134 Formula 1 grand prix between 1971 and 1983. He scored a total of 31.5 points in F1, won 3 podiums, 3 pole positions and set 3 fastest laps in the race.
